1Many people think that prayer is hard or they don’t even know how to go about it. But prayer should be easy – it’s just talking . . . to God! And despite what you might think, there’s actually no ‘special way’ that we should pray. We can just talk.

Some people like to pray with their hands together and eyes closed to shut out the things around them. Others pray with their hands raised and with their eyes looking upwards. Some people do neither and just sit and talk quietly. I wouldn’t tell how you should sit to talk to a friend, it’s a personal thing that you have to feel comfortable with. No way is wrong. It’s the same with talking to God.

We read in the Bible that Paul, one of Jesus’ followers, wrote to a church telling them:

Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Prayer is not something you do only when you go to church. You can pray to God on your own, with someone else or in any situation. So pray whenever and wherever it feels right. Whether that’s in the field, at home, walking the dog or wherever. Talk with God whenever you can.
