T.A.B stands for a “Tactical Advance to Battle”. As a soldier I hated these forced marches, carrying 35lb on my back and holding a heavy weapon. I have very short legs and found the exercise exhausting. Sometimes the only thing that kept me going during a T.A.B was the rest of the squad. Whenever I started to stumble, they encouraged me to keep going. Without them, I’m pretty sure I would have given up.

Christians are in exactly the same position. God, our commanding officer, calls us to move out and face different enemies—illness, insecurity, relationship problems, a terrifying service assignment, a difficult decision or any other hard situation.

Often the fear of facing our enemies is too much for us on our own. So it’s good to know our squad is with us. Who’s our squad? Everyone who has given their lives to Christ! This includes our church, Scripture Readers, family and friends.

The Bible tells us that we are “fellow citizens” with the “members of the household of God” (Eph. 2:19). And members of God’s house should “Bear one another’s burdens” (Gal. 6:2). In other words, never make a T.A.B alone! God doesn’t want us to battle on our own. Instead, share your battles with others in “the household of God” so that they can ‘run’ alongside by encouraging, teaching and praying for you!

Don’t go anywhere without the support of your squad!
